Frankfurt-Hahn airport is a relatively small airport but connects people from across Europe with Germany. Only Ryanair and Wizzair currently operate flights in and out of the airport. It does though transport cargo 24 hours a day.

The largest shareholders of the airport are a Chinese company who are looking to turn the airport into a profitable operation and have pledged to make significant improvements to its cosmetic and commercial appeal.

Passenger numbers have declined over the years and currently, just over 2 million passengers use the airport each year.

Flights to Dublin, Catania, Barcelona, and Bergamo are all scheduled to begin in 2022 as part of the improvement plans.
