The Cars to Look Forward to in 2022

10th January, 2022, in Travel Advice & Guides, Uncategorised

With a new year now here, many car manufacturers are looking to wow you with their 2022 additions to their portfolio. For some, it’s a simple upgrade on a well-loved model. For others it is a chance to unleash something new. Below we pick the cars we are most looking forward to in 2022.

Classy and Sporty

Aston Martin Vanquish

We all might like to think we are James Bond behind the wheel but more often than not-we aren’t. The closest you may be able to get in 2022 though is this addition from Aston Martin. It certainly isn’t cheap, an estimated price point of £200,000 would put many off! Furnished with a growling V8 engine and an aluminium structure, many insiders say it will be similar to the Valkyrie hypercar from Aston Martin. We wait in anticipation as this was first touted in 2019.

Lotus Amira

Priced at £60,000 this car appeals to a variety of drivers due to the two types of chassis available. The Tour edition for more comfort or the sports for more track capability.

Bolstered by a 3.5L V6 engine in one edition or a Mercedes-AMG four cylinder in the other, this model from Lotus is a statement of intent from the famous British marque.

MG E-motion

MG has a long-standing tradition of beautiful vehicles and since being taken over by the Chinese firm SAIC it has seen a bit of a renaissance. Tapping into the ever-growing electric market, the E-motion is an affordable sports car which-if the production model lives up to the concept model tests- will impress drivers the world over with its generous charge and good acceleration. Expect to pay around £30,000 if you were to purchase from new.

Family Friendly

BMW M3 Touring

With a selectable 4 wheel drive system and 3 litre twin turbo charged engine, this from BMW has long been one that fans of the manufacturer have waited for. An estate version of the classic sports car means you can transport your family around and with the increased suspension, a long road trip overseas with car full of luggage won’t seem such a chore. Priced at an estimated £77,000 it may be a vehicle you rent when in another country as opposed to buy for yourself!

Renault Megane E-Tech Electric

The plug-in hybrid of this model is already to be launched but come the end of the year a fully electric version will be on offer. The battery is impressive offering 280 miles on a charge and its ability to quick charge means you can get a further 124 miles from just a half hour plug in. This Renault could be the ideal mid-range vehicle to hire abroad if you have children.

Dacia Jogger

This neat and tidy 7-seater is ideal for larger families – set at an incredible £15,000 it is certainly on many peoples shopping lists. With a variety of add-ons too, it’s a vehicle that will appeal to fans of SUVs as well as fans of Dacia.

Small and Stylish

Fiat Panda

With a 1.2L engine, this budget friendly car will be ideal for city driving overseas. At an incredible £11,000 it is a car many rental companies will be snapping up. Many would question why it is so cheap but the recent formation of the Stellantis group has allowed Fiat to share parts with Peugeot and Citroen therefore keeping costs down.

Toyota Aygo X

Priced at a reasonable £13,500 this city car will ensure you stand out among the crowds when driving overseas. Four bi-tone colour options make it look just that little bit different. It isn’t just the visuals though. With limited editions available as well as the pure and exclusive models, this Toyota is appealing to the masses with its three different specs.

Citroen Ami

Now this little pocket rocket has to be seen to be believed. It is tiny but then so is the price. At just £6,000 the Ami is the electric car that is perfect for inner-city journeys where speed is not of the essence. With a top speed of just 28 mph it certainly won’t be getting you from Lands’ End to John o’ Groats in record time. At a cost so low there are plans to make renting it as cheap as a monthly mobile phone contract!

So these are our cars to look forward to in 2022. What do you think?
